Sarah Birl – Philadelphia, PA. Sarah is a feminist actor and poet. Her poetry has appeared in a number of publications including American Tanka. Her work is on exhibition at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA as part of a project aimed to raise awareness about and end violence against women.

Jennifer Bisbing – Denver, CO. Jennifer earned a BA in Humanities from San Francisco State University. Her interest in photography spans over a decade and she has traveled extensively to capture her images. She often incorporates the first names of influential women to serve as titles to her work.

Paul Brokering – Lincoln, NE. Paul received a degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska in 1974. He was a practicing architect until seven years ago when his interest in photography led to a career change to commercial photography. His work has been published in many magazines and calendars.

D. E. Brown – Boulder, CO. Ms. Brown's research articles have appeared in numerous scientific journals. Her poetry has appeared in such journals as Kalliope, Earth's Daughters, and Gertrude.

Joanne Burney – Denver, CO. A lifelong artist, Joanne received awards for her childhood artwork and eventually received her BA in Studio Arts from Queens College. She continues to create and enjoys teaching.

Trudy Lee Cohen – Philadelphia, PA. Trudy’s work involves the use of light, texture, and distortion to convey an emotion, which she sees as more important than content. She hopes to create a desire in others to imagine what is beyond the obvious image.

Maggie Crowley – Boston, MA. Maggie is committed to social justice and art in every possible form and combination. Her work has appeared in The Common Ground Review and Northeast Magazine as winner in the Night of Fresh Voices at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.

Veronica Day – Brooklyn, NY. Veronica received an MFA from New York University in 1998. Her work has been displayed in several exhibitions in Texas, Ohio, North Carolina, and Nebraska. In 2000, she received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Photography.

Eric K. Delehoy – LaPorte, CO. Eric's essays, fiction and poetry have appeared in journals such as The Rockford Review, Weird Sisters, The Armchair Aesthete, Upstairs at Duroc, and Seedhouse. His poetry and fiction is forthcoming in Onthebus, Haz Mat Review, and Cranial Tempest. He begins pursuit of an MFA in Creative Writing-Fiction at Antioch University (Los Angeles) in June 2002.

C. Stephen Foster – Los Angeles, CA. C. Stephen Foster has been working as a journalist and playwright in LA for the past ten years. His work has appeared in numerous publications including L.A. Theatres Magazine, 4-front, Edge, and Sexvibe. He has written three plays that have been produced at local theatres and is the author of poetry included in The Bay Area Poets Collation, The Axe Factory, Sessions, and The Citadel.

Carol Guess – Seattle, WA. Carol is the author of 3 novels: Seeing Dell (1996), Switch (1998), and Gaslight (2001). "This City" is taken from her forthcoming book Love is a Map I Must Not Set on Fire. Her poetry and nonfiction have appeared, or are forthcoming in Crab Orchard Review, CAIRN, The Harvard Gay and Lesbian Review, Poetry Northwest, Interim, Mankato Poetry Review, Hiram Poetry Review, Gerbil, Bay Windows, Red Cedar Review, Illya’s Honey, and others. She is an assistant professor of English at Western Washington University.

Elizabeth Howkins – Ardmore, PA. Elizabeth’s fiction, poetry, and drama have garnered numerous awards throughout her career. She has several publication credits including Stand, The New Writer, Gertrude, Taproot Literary Review, Paris Atlantic, asspants, and Haight Ashbury Literary Journal.

Tony Leuzzi – Rochester, NY. Tony teaches literature and composition at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. His poems and prose have been published or are forthcoming in Poetry Motel, Rhino, SLANT, Fox Cry Review, Amelia, The Harvard Educational Review, Desperate Act, Gertrude, and several others. A two-time recipient of grants from New York State Council of the Arts, he has authored four poetry chapbooks: The Joey Poems (1996), Dream Lessons of the Mouth (1998), The Secret of Travel (1998), and Figuring (1999).

J. S. A. Lowe – Santa Fe, NM. Ms. Lowe moved with her partner to Santa Fe from Boston, where she was for two years Managing Editor of Partisan Review. Before that, she was the 1997-98 Starbuck Fellow in poetry at Boston University. She holds an MA in English from the University of Cambridge, and an AB from Mount Holyoke College where she studied with Joseph Brodsky. Her poems have appeared in AGNI, Poetry Daily, Denver Quarterly, Upstairs at Duroc, Tricycle Magazine, and Salamander, & are forthcoming in Fish Drum and Paris Review. She teaches English composition at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.

Stephen Mead – Albany, NY. Stephen is a freelance artist/writer. He has exhibited art throughout New York and in Provincetown, MA. His work has been published in several small literary journals.

B. Z. Niditch – Brookline, MA. BZ’s work has been widely published in various small press journals and magazines. His latest chapbook is the Inside Out World of BZ Niditch by Lummox Press in California.

Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan – Southampton, NY. Tammy’s work has appeared in such journals as Poet’s Pen Quarterly, Dream International, The Aguilar Expression, Write to Heal, Proteus, Writer’s Exchange, Rio Grande Press, and has been displayed in Survivor’s Art Foundation website. The poets Robert Long, William “Kit” Hathaway, Charles Matz, John Keanelly, and Michael Bugeja have critiqued her work.
Sarah Pazur – Dearborn, MI. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, a single mother and full time teacher. Her poems have appeared in [sic], UDM’s literary publication, where she also served as co-editor in Winter 2001. She is the author of the chapbook, Mother Tongue, and was the 2000 Women Studies Award recipient for her memoir, The Fruit of Her Womb. Her future pursuits include an MFA in poetry from Bennington College.

April Pergl – Fort Collins, CO. April recently received her masters in English, non-fiction focus, from Colorado State University. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, April will teach middle school English in Colorado Springs. Her interview of Michael Lowenthal marks her first published work.

Ronda Stone – Loveland, CO. Ronda received a BFA - Photography from Colorado State University. She operates a month membership meeting and studio entitled The Salon Studio. She is the photographer of the book that features poetry by Veronica Patterson, The Bones Remember. She is developing a diversity workshop presentation featuring personal stories and photography that chronicles experiences within the GLBT community. Ronda's work has been exhibited widely throughout the United States. This issue mark's Ronda's final issue as Art Editor for the publication, as the journal relocates to Portland.

Margaret Walther – Aurora, CO. Margaret is a librarian in the Denver metropolitan area, a member of Columbine Poets, Inc., a statewide organization to promote poetry in Colorado, and has attended a weekly workshop on poetry for over 10 years, both as a participant and as a teacher. She has also been a guest editor for Buffalo Bones. Her work has appeared in The Adirondack Review, Lucid Stone, Karamu, Buffalo Bones, Comstock Review, and others. She has a poem forthcoming in Plainsongs.

H. E. Wright – Delta, UT. H.E. Wright completed graduate work at the University of Maryland and at the University of Utah, where she taught. She also taught at Salt Lake Community College. She developed creative writing and computer literacy programs in a Baltimore middle school before moving back to her native Utah, where she is writing full time.

Brenna Yovanoff – Fort Collins, CO. Brenna is an undergraduate English major at Colorado State University. She has received several creative writing scholarships over the past few years; however, this is her first fiction publication. Brenna plans to pursue an MFA upon graduating next spring.
