Last Call for Chapbook Entries

February 15, 2008 marks the final day to mail submissions to the Gertrude Press Fiction and Poetry Chapbook contest. One winner will be selected in each category with each winner receiving a $50 cash prize and 50 copies of the winning chapbook. Entrants receive a copy of the winning chapbook in their respective genres and all work is considered for possible publication in a future issue of Gertrude. Complete contest details are available online at gertrudepress.org.

Announcing Issue 12 of Gertrude

Gertrude Press is pleased to announce the publication of its twelfth issue scheduled for release in late February. Issue Twelve features poetry, fiction, and artwork from two dozen writers and artists from around the globe. We hope you will support their efforts and the continued success of Gertrude Press by ordering a copy, subscribing, or renewing your subscription today.

Silent Auction Items Needed for Fundraiser

Gertrude Press will host its Third Annual Fundraiser in late spring. (A final date is being determined and will be posted on our website soon.) The event promises to be another success and will include a silent auction. We are seeking donations of items and services for the auction. Donations are a chance for you to publicize your business or service, and support the work of Gertrude Press. If you have a silent auction donation, please contact us

Gertrude Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

Gertrude Press welcomes three new Board of Directors members in 2008. Joining the Gertrude Press Board of Directors in January were Jodi Ballard, Tammy Stoner, and Nancy Linnon. (Full Board biographies can be found online.)

Jodi Ballard brings strong organizational skills as well as non-profit development experience to the table and will be spearheading our non-profit 501(c)3 application. She has also been elected to the position of Board Secretary.

Tammy Stoner is a recent graduate of Antioch University Los Angeles and presents a plethora of publishing experience with such powerhouses as The Advocate, OUT, and Alyson Books. She will also assist in evaluating fiction submissions.

Nancy Linnon, a 2004 graduate of Antioch University Los Angeles, joins the board to fill the new position of Non Fiction Editor. She will be responsible for increasing submissions in that genre, evaluating submissions, and serving on the Writer & Artist Relations Committee.

If you live in the Portland area and are interested in promoting queer literature, we are seeking additional board members. Contact Eric Delehoy for more information.
