Matthew Dayler was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He draws from a wide variety of historical and contemporary imagery relating to identity in juxtaposition with music, graffiti, gay culture, and sports. Dayler’s images are often presented in the form of drawing, prints, painting and video. His work has been exhibited at the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia, The Brooks Museum in Memphis, Tennessee; and Galerie Edition Schedler in Zurich, Switzerland, among others. In 2011, he had a solo exhibition of paintings and prints in Amsterdam and has been included in various group exhibitions recently in Miami, New York City and Los Angeles. Dayler lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently teaches/lectures at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. He is also one of the founders of Higher Level Art.
