Deadline 2/15: Chapbook Contest

Mail us your submission for the annual Gertrude Press Fiction and Poetry Chapbook contest. One winner will be selected in each category with each winner receiving a $50 cash award and 50 copies of the winning chapbook with your name on the cover. Yesterday: Today: Tomorrow

Dawn Forbes artLook for the 30-foot tall hot pink presence in front of Portland's Q Center on Friday, February 12th at 6pm, and you'll find big, bold and provocative opening of Yesterday:Today:Tomorrow, the month-long celebration of art through the lens of Gertrude Press.

Featuring eight visual artists or collectives whose work has been published in the journal, this show considers "Queerness"—an identity in constant flux—and its themes. Join us »

Gertrude Wins Literary Arts Fellowship

Recently, Portland-based Literary Arts awarded Gertrude a  fellowship to support the journal’s efforts to provide free copies to public libraries throughout Oregon. This opportunity will bring Gertrude to a new audience and offer a great arts resource for library goers all across the state. Learn more »

How Gay Is That?

And now for something completely different... Gertrude goes SUPER GAY for its 15th issue. In this, our Gayest Issue Ever, we are seeking writing and visual art that explores, celebrates, or subverts all of the fabulous queer stereotypes. Whether it's a Sunday School teacher turned drag detective at night or anything set on a lesbian cruise ship, is up to you. Submit online »
