Cover artist, Danja Akulin, was born in St. Petersburg and now lives in Berlin. His mentor, Georg Baselitz, calls Danja's work “aesthetically minimalist." In the past, Danja Akulin experimented with various art media, working with sculpture and oil paints until he realized that he could say more with a simple pencil. To Danja, a pencil-drawn line contains more information than a brush stroke. Currently, he's experimenting with the new drawing technique, which combines graphite painting with silk printing. Further researching the mystics and the dialog between light and shadows, he reuses the silk-printing frames to play with painting several variations for the same image, artistically investigating the multiplicity of single form and developing a diversity of what seems to be idiosyncratic. You can follow Danja's work on Instagram @danjaakulin and on his website www.danjaakulin.com.
